When it comes to lobster, who doesn't know this marine biota. Lobster is one of the aquatic animals that has a fairly high economic value because it can be used as an ornamental animal or animal consumption for humans.
As an archipelagic country, Indonesia does have the potential for abundant marine commodities. Indonesia is even claimed to be the largest lobster seed producer in the world.
That's what makes Lobster an attraction in itself to cultivate it and make it a business opportunity to be reckoned with.
Well, here's how to cultivate freshwater crayfish that can be a business opportunity for you.
Preparing the Pool
There are many places that you can use to do freshwater crayfish cultivation, you can use an aquarium or pond. The ideal size is 200 x 200 x 50 cm for baby lobsters and one brood or with a size of 2 x 1 x 0.5 meters for 1000 lobster seeds.
In addition, the water used must be clean and cool so that the lobsters can easily live and develop.
Choose the Right Lobster Parent
Lobster brooders must be selected properly in order to be able to produce good freshwater crayfish and obtain maximum profits. Breeders of freshwater crayfish that are ready to be spawned are those that are at least 6 months old
The size of the tub can be made depending on the size and density of the lobster. Generally, 1-2 male broods with 3 female broods. The density level of the ideal spawning pond width is 3-5 fish/m².
In addition, keep the level of water stability between 30 cm with a temperature of 23-29 degrees Celsius so that the spawning process can run smoothly. Feeding should also be done 2 times a day with a dose of 3% more of the total biomass in a day.
Lobster Circulation Stage
The next step you have to do is the nursery. Nursery tanks must be adapted to the life of lobsters in their natural habitat, especially at the level of depth, water pressure, temperature, to the level of acidity of the water.
When all these preparations have been completed, then you can move on to the next stage, namely the freshwater nursery process. The fry or baby lobsters are placed in an incubation container until they are 7-15 days old. Feeding is 2 times a day with silkworms, frozen worms, or shrimp pellets with the smallest percentage of 2-3% by weight of the fry.
When it is past the age of 7-15 days, do a density thinning with a density of about 20-50 fish/m². Then, spray the organic GDM SOC at a dose of 6 ml/m² evenly. Repeat this activity every 10 days on a regular basis.
After the nursery is complete, you can move the freshwater crayfish seeds to a larger pond. However, lobsters can only be moved a week after the pool water is filled. Also, make sure you have prepared enough hiding places for the number of crayfish you are moving.
For small freshwater crayfish, you should pay more attention to the feeding. Generally
Seed lobster food: vegetables, worms, or pellets in the morning and evening
Large Lobster Food: Worms, Vegetable bean sprouts, carrots, or special lobster pellets.
special lobster pellets include feed mixed with artificial feed such as tuna, pellets, combination pellets with tubifex worms, or mixtures of tuna with tubifex worms.
Lobster Pond Treatment
For tarpaulin pools, change the water every 2-3 days, also make sure that the tarpaulin does not leak easily and the water channels can be maintained properly to be able to maintain the pressure and also the quality of the pool water. Various pool hiding places should also be cleaned regularly.
As for the ground pool, you also have to regularly replace it every 2-3 days so that the water quality can be maintained. Make sure the quality of the pool water is maintained in terms of turbidity, oxygen, and pressure.
New lobsters can harvest seeds when they are 1-2 cm in size and 20 days old. For freshwater crayfish cultivation, the lobsters that can be harvested are at the age of 6-8 months with a minimum weight of 100 grams
